Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 2026
Medical equity means nothing if our own platforms are not accessible to everyone. Accessibility is not an afterthought at CaribAssist — it is core to our mission.
Our Commitment
CaribAssist is committed to ensuring our website and platforms are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology, ability, or circumstances. We believe that healthcare information and clinical tools should be available to everyone who needs them.
We are working to ensure our website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which is the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.
What We Have Built In
Bilingual Content
Full Spanish and English language support with automatic browser language detection and manual toggle.
Mobile Responsive
All pages adapt to any screen size — desktop, tablet, and mobile — with touch-friendly navigation.
Keyboard Navigation
Our site can be navigated using keyboard only, without requiring a mouse or touch screen.
Colour Contrast
Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements for readability.
Readable Typography
Clear font choices with appropriate sizing and line spacing for comfortable reading across devices.
Reduced Motion
Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion system setting for users sensitive to motion.
Known Limitations
We are a small team in active development. Some areas of our website are still being improved for accessibility:
- Podcast episodes will be accompanied by written transcripts when published
- Video content will include captions when introduced
- We are working to add ARIA labels to all interactive elements
- Screen reader optimization is ongoing
We are committed to resolving these limitations as our platform develops.
Regional Accessibility
We recognize that users in the Caribbean and Latin America may face unique access challenges including limited bandwidth, older devices, and varying connectivity. We have designed CaribAssist with these realities in mind:
- Our website is built with minimal dependencies and loads efficiently on slower connections
- The CaribAssist clinical app is built offline-first specifically to function without reliable internet
- We avoid large media files that would be prohibitive on limited data plans
